Profile: Xi’an International Trade & Logistics Park (ITLP) has been programmed as the “Terminal One of Central Shaanxi” by co-transportation means of sea to train, train to train and road to train; it helps to develop the virtual-port terminals in the eastern Shaanxi region and promote local economic development outwards. The project is the entrance of the park and important service zone that can provide comprehensive logistics programs of parking districts, logistics information, utilities, storage, and vehicle arrangement. The concept and program payout of design scheme follows the clue of “Chinese Knot”, the subtext is to refer Xi’an as a key node on China inland, and Xi’an ITLP is an inter-states transportation hub and economic connection of Asia and Europe. The scheme primarily studies the organization and access for pedestrians, vehicles and logistics, aiming at provide parking, accommodations and supplies programs for 3000 vehicles simultaneously. Another noted design is urban landmark image. The image of Iconic hotel integrated with Highway Terminal’s features of “bridge” and “gateway”; meanwhile, Highway Terminal Service Center is a pentagonal building icon which combined Xi’an traditional architectural structure with contemporary sculptures; the idea is originated from 5 Chinese material elements and 5 universal directions.
